Winter in Pinecrest

Vice President’s Winter Message

Many visitors to Pinecrest think that it is one of the best places on Earth. I am one of these people. Our fond memories of the place fall into several categories; the beauty of the lake, canyon, mountains, and forests, the temperate summer weather, the myriad recreational opportunities, and the reunions with family and friends.

Friends of Pinecrest was founded almost fifteen years ago by Allen Green and Keri Green. For most of that time, it was ably run by Allen and Dave Holland. Our organization has helped the Forest Service with shoreline management and traffic, circulation, and parking planning. In addition, Allen and Dave were in constant contact with our County Supervisor.

Most importantly, we have been a source of funding for many worthy organizations in the PInecrest Basin. Our Emergency Services Fundraiser and Dinner has, over the years, provided funds in the five figures to the Pinecrest and Strawberry Fire Departments, the most important entities in keeping Pinecrest safe.

In order for FOP to continue in this way, we need people to serve on our Board. As you may know, I am the vice president of FOP and, in the absence of a president, I am also carrying out the duties of that office. I will be stepping away from the FOP Board at the end of 2024. I would like each of you to consider whether you might consider volunteering to become a member of the Board. In addition, I would like you to nominate FOP members who you think would be good additions to the Board.  I hope that you all have a prosperous and happy new year.

Charles Grinstead, FOP Board Vice President
